here's my friend angel again, looking her usual sharp self. in this outfit she's wearing her "everyday necklace combo" which is what i'd like to discuss in particular. angel and i both have the wooden necklace by anya jindrich, which is by far one of the happiest things i own. it's a beautifully handcrafted piece of rosewood on an adjustable leather cord, plain and simple. i appreciate the way that angel has chosen to pair it with a marisha haskell beaded piece. also love the army style pants by band of outsiders and just for the record, the alexander wang cross-body purse doesn't suck.

this is the jeanine payer ring my sister and i bought recently for my mother for her 80th. i've been a big fan of jeanine payer for years and was excited to discover that she has a blog (she's had it for awhile, but i never came across it before). anyways, the ring has an edna st. vincent millay quote on it, the last verse of the poem "journey" and it goes like this:

things have been happening. for starters; even before having a chance to blog it, tony and i fostered (and consequently found a home for) a 9.5lb dog by the name of greta. more on that here. next up, my mother landed in the hospital again and had to have surgery, this time in los angeles and for less serious matters than before. i flew to LA for the surgery and spent some time in the hospital, and a hospital is where things are always happening. all kinds of things happen but way too much to be written about here. it would take hours of time. the upshot is that my mother is tough and thankfully is recovering beautifully. in the midst of the hospital and the fostering there was a wedding to attend in big sur, along with a day or two spent traipsing the coastline with family. and somewhere inside the mysterious time lapse that can occur while traipsing, there was an incident on the beach involving gold-flecked water. the gold flecks were everywhere - on the sand, in the water, covering the rocks. nobody seemed all that impressed by this ocean of gold, but i'm still trying to understand where it came from and where it might be headed. i tried capturing the gold with my camera but failed. i did capture something. it was like my camera could tell how hard i was trying and decided to throw me some stars...

i've joined svpply. and yes, i'm fully aware that there's a tiny little thing called overkill and i'm beginning to master it. i'm already using pinterest and fancy, so is three a charm? maybe not, but what i'm finding after having this little blog for so many years, is that i need a quicker, dirtier way to bookmark and share my inspirations. obviously tumblr could be an option, but i've noticed that too many tumblr users don't credit their sources or they credit the source but not the original source, i.e. the artist. i'm not sure if this is inherent in tumbling or if it's the user's choice but it bugs me. pinterest, fancy and svpply seem like foolproof, easy ways to have online, share-able notebooks with proper crediting and linking.

what are your thoughts? anyone? i'd love to hear some other opinions on this subject...
